I was watching the recording for session 2 and I noticed that Manhattan discourages drawing out the diagram we practice with. Is this due to the time limit?

Yup! I think the diagram is just to get you in the right frame of mind. You barely have enough time to underline or circle stuff or maybe scribble on the side, let alone time to draw a full diagram with sides of the arg and who said what to whom...

On a similar note: it might be helpful to mark which passage numbers (eg; lines 3-5) correspond to which opinions.
