When diagramming a statement that involves “often”

by obobob Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:57 am

Hi is
OFTEN the presence of the flower bee balm in a garden will attract bumblebees.

Conditional-logically equivalent to the sentence saying:

In MANY times, the presence of the flower bee balm in a garden will attract bumblebees?

I am curious if each of the two can be diagrammed as a some statement.

I would say "often" and "many" are essentially interchangeable, yes.

But neither one is diagrammable. We only diagram stuff if there is a 100% connection between two things. If I say, "On Mondays, I often go to get bagels", is there any certain connection between Monday and "getting bagels"?

No, maybe I will, maybe I won't.

We don't diagram any quantifier that isn't all or nothing.

DO NOT DIAGRAM:
some, sometimes, many, most, often, commonly, typically, generally, usually, tends to, not all, not always, etc.
