Taking multiple PT's at once

by cardsfan04 Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:03 pm

One of my issues on the June LSAT was endurance. When taking PT's, I didn't do writing samples nor did I do an experimental section.

I saw advice somewhere that taking 2 PT's back to back can be a good idea. Does anybody do this or recommend it? Is it better to gradually work my way up to 2 PT's in a day than to just try and do it right away?

We'd recommend that you not take multiple practice tests in one day. There are several drawbacks to it; you burn through material to work on (without any benefit) and you will probably produce consistently lower scores on the second practice test in a day (which could lead to decreased confidence - an important commodity when taking the LSAT).

There are other ways to build your endurance without taking two PTs back to back. I'd recommend that you warm up beforehand (my routine is 2 LG games, 1 RC passage, and the first 10 LR questions of a section) and that you include an experimental section whenever taking a practice test.

Also, when you study, you should study in 4-hour blocks. That will get you adjusted to the length of focus that you will need to maintain during the real thing.

Hope that helps, and let me know if you still have further questions on this!
