Sufficient Assumption Questions and Conditional Logic

by sumukh09 Wed Mar 13, 2013 10:05 pm

S.A. questions almost always involve formal logic; so should you be ready to diagram whenever you come across a sufficient assumption question? I tend to get tricked by reversed logic under time constraints and diagramming could potentially help resolve that issue as the terms would be more manageable. Is your instinct to diagram when you come across a S.A. question or do you first try and rely on your intuitive process and try and look for a term shift, for example.

It depends.

Ultimately I try and find the argument core for SAs and if its straight logic or most/some/majority etc. premises, I diagram. I personally prefer reserving my diagrams for tough inference questions. SA questions, not so much unless its convoluted.
