Skipping games

by mcrittell Thu Jun 30, 2011 9:02 pm

Some good advise I have heard is to skip games that are difficult--to not necessarily do the games in the order they're presented. While theoretically this is a good idea, this takes time to recognize what will eventually be an easy or hard game...sometimes to the point that you should just finish the game because you've read too much into it. How does one alleviate this situation?

Heard about this too. But it doesn't seem to work for me. Sometimes seemingly difficult Open Assignment games turn out to be more manageable once I flesh out some key inferences. And some Numbered ordering games seem easy at first, but end up taking up a lot of time, either because the constraints are more complicated, I missed some inferences, or the questions are complex.

I've given up on the "seek and skip the hard games" strategy. I think it's best (at least for me) to go through games sequentially, and perhaps skip (guesstimate) difficult questions within some games.

Good topic :-)

I don't worry about this as much as I used to. It's kind of funny how much emphasis Kaplan puts on this in their test explanations. I just want to make sure I don't get stuck on a tough game when there's an easier game left to do. That can happen with games 3 and 4 frequently. So I will probably look at those two before choosing one. However if you get through all 4 games it shouldn't matter what order you complete them in.
