Self Study Time Line

by mikeyjacobs Fri Sep 25, 2009 12:43 am

Hey,

I just picked up the self study package with the online recorded classes. I am wondering what the suggested time frame this should be completed in. A general time frame would be helpful to me.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi Mike, Welcome aboard! As you might expect, the most important factor is you: how much work you need to do, how much you can do, and how fast you can do it. I suggest you do the "tall" amount of HW, and watch a class every 5 days. If you can move faster, go for it. That said, some folks have more time on their hands, others need a week between classes. What you want to avoid is piling on the class recordings without doing the HW. Try to master the basics of a classes' topics before moving on. Mastering all the variations of a question type may take longer, but at least get the basics down.

One last thing, the 6 preptests we assign is a minimum.. I suggest you do a number of tests in the next 10 after those.

Which test are you prepping for?

Great, so you have plenty of time. Go for one class per week. Tell me how it goes.

Well, I think you should make a time-table for your self first.
Let see when is the most suitable time to study or when you have free time....
In addition, select topics that interests you to study first; and study it further till you can master it to move to another.
Good luck to gain high result :)

Are the on-line classes essential for test prep, or can I just work the books and practice tests to get prepared?

I am studing for the December test, and only have a limited amount of time left. Trying to decide what the best use of my time is.

Thanks!

With just a few weeks left, you'll probably want to stick to the books. Perhaps if you are doing nothing other than studying, the recordings could work well.

Feel free to check out the sample class that is in your starter kit, and see if that's helpful. Tell me what you think...

I am studying for September 27 administration. I took the course a while ago, but want to start studying in earnest again. Any tips on redoing my time table? I tried to study sections simultaneously (RC, LG, and LR different sections at the same time), but fear it's not effective. Is anyone studying section-by-section, like finishing LG and moving on to LR and then RC?
