Re: Q18 - People cannot be morally responsible for

I narrowed this one down to A and E, but picked A. The reason I picked A was because the last sentence says infants cannot control, and we know from the first premise, if thing over which people cannot control then cannot be morally responsible for that thing, and therefore should not be held morall...

Re: Q16 - Chlorofluorocarbons are the best possible

Thanks, I misinterpreted E which is why I thought it was extreme, but now I see that it's actually much better than B. Silly mistake.

Re: Q11 - Household indebtedness, which some theorists

Hey Noah, your explanation was very helpful and I got 10 and 11 right, but they took me longer to figure out than I would have wanted, so I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. During my initial read I didn't even think about this being a false dilemma, but then it occured to me after seein...

Re: Q27

Thanks Timmy, and after another read today I see there is clear evidence that he wants a change in methods used for research (line 42 and 60-63) but would you please elaborate a little further as to why B is wrong? I see that D is right now, and the author basically explicity suggests D. I have the ...

Q16 - Chlorofluorocarbons are the best possible

This question seemed to require more speculation than other MSS questions I've seen, but anyway I was stuck between B and E, and I picked B. My thought process was this: At first glance, B seemed to be a bigger leap, especially with the "radically." But E says "greater contribution&qu...

Q27

I narrowed it down to B and D, but picked B. I understand that the author is arguing in favor of changes in method but that didn't seem like his primary concern; he only discusses that at the end. My interpretation was that the way woman medical practitioner is defined is often too narrow, according...

Q2

I was stuck between C and E and ended up picking E, but only because I thought King was more concerned with unjust laws than social change, although it is clear from the passage he was concerned with both. Lines 35-37 indicate that he was concerned with social change. Why is C wrong?

Re: Q18 - People cannot be morally responsible for

I figured out where my reasoning went wrong. Honestly, the structure of the last sentence is very bizarre. The "and infants clearly cannot control" part is situated between two commas as if it were an additional stand alone premise and not merely a qualification. I think it would be much m...

Re: Q7

I've been going through the RC guide and have been trying to nail down a solid technique, but one concept is a little unclear to me and this question is a perfect example. I was able to eliminate A-D pretty quickly: A. Too strong B. No information of either claims C. This is the centrifugal pump D. ...

Q8 - Some years ago, an editorial

I had a hard time deciding between B and C, but I picked B. For B, the inconsistency is that they defended academic restrictions for the US, but argued against those restrictions enacted by the Soviet gov. Author wants them to explain the differences in reasoning, if there are any. For C, the genera...

Re: Q6

OK, I went with B on this one, and E was actually quickly eliminated. Could anyone help me out here? My prediction was something along the lines of, "photography inspired new forms of art." How is B wrong? Lines 46 through the last sentence seem to support B. The knowledge of light and mov...

Re: Q18

OK, I think I missed the whole point about types of crops. I guess I assumed the passage may have been discussing different crops but of the same type. What is wrong with A? Does A mischaracterize crop rotation? I guess moving plants around doesn't make the plants themselves more resistant, rather t...

Q18

I chose A, and I still don't get why E is correct. In the first paragraph, it says crop rotation denys pathogens a suitable host for a period of time. Thus, moving crops around (crop rotation), makes them hardier and more resistant to disease because the pathogens are unable to attack them as freque...

Re: Q16

I chose D, but kept B as a contender. Is B wrong because the author doesn't "explain" why the yields increased, but merely states it and assumes the antagonist caused the increase. So would it be better to say that yield increases function as an example of the benefits Pseudomonas fluoresc...

Re: Q5

I understand now why C is right, but did not feel confident enough to eliminate E. Was it wrong for me to think that "suggests" here means new info could be brought in pertaining to what the author would agree with? I know the author never speaks of carving images on weapons, but since the...

Q2 - Those who do not learn

I narrowed it down to A and C, and incorrectly picked A. My thoughts: I understand that Lewis' point is that we must know about history in order to learn lessons from it. For Morris, my initial take was that he says but anything can be proven or disproven given the variety of historical events. Thus...

Re: Q16 - Concetta: Francho...

I narrowed it down to C and D. Why is D wrong? My thoughts are Alicia disputes Concetta's conclusion (Franchot was a great writer) and then presents facts in support of an alternative criterion (the mark of a great writer is....). Is it wrong because those are not facts, but merely Alicia's opinion?...
