Re: Q7 - empathy

Hello giladedelman, I am still confused by A and C. I diagram the stimulus as follows: premise: mc(--> sometimes ignore welfare or "siw")--> ep conclusion: cs--> ep prephrase: connect mc(siw) and cs I think the flow would go from premise to conclusion, therefore I prephrase the an...

Re: Q25 - Editorial: the town would not

Very clear, ohthatpatrick! I read your analysis then reviewed the stimulus again and found the sentence in D indeed not necessarily for the conclusion, it is more like a background information/introduction of the debate of preferring voluntary or order.

Thanks so much!

Re: Q 14 - Arnot's editorial argues...

Hello ohthatpatrick, this question reminds me of another flaw of reasoning question in recent years (about whether a subject concerning math should be necessarily taught by math department), and the correct answer is also like: one inadequate reasoning opposing the proposal does not demonstrate the ...

Q25 - Editorial: the town would not

I narrow down to B and D, then choose D as I find its expression is safe and would not be wrong and B's expression is somehow weird. Could anyone please explain why D incorrect and how the first sentence lends support to the conclusion? I can somehow sense it but B is so not appealing... Thanks a lot!

Re: Q8 - Clark: Our local community

So if I understand correctly, by "critical acclaim...one of the main factors", the stimulus implies a correlation between selection and acclaim right?

Then the conclusion unwarrantly infer a conditional reasoning between the two from the correlation?

Thanks a lot!

Re: Q10 - A ring of gas emitting

I am confused by E, so it says: stationary--> more than 49 less than/ equals to 49--> not stationary since the stimulus says the blackhole would be spinning if less than/ equals to 49, is it to the opposite of "stationary" and thus E is correct? Or did I unwarrantly presume spinning ...

Re: Q15 - Sonya: Anyone who lives without constant

I think (B) is incorrect because "either A or B" includes three situations: A / B / A+B Therefore (B) would mean: ~te (-->~aw) or ~ill (--> aw) or ~te + ~ ill (~aw + aw, which is impossible according to the stimulus, I also think that "without constant awareness" is logical...

How about A? It seems to strengthen the reasoning by saying the survey is valid (with questions various enough).

Could any one point out what I have missed?

Thanks in advance!

Q12 - Undoubtedly, one's freedom is

Could any one explain what does the stimulus trying to say? I choose (c) by elimination and I don't think the example(consider a person locked in a cement room) in the premise has much to do with the general principle(one's freedom is always worth the risk) in the stimulus. When I was reading the st...

Re: Q22 - drug marketing

If B says instead: "many new products fail whether not they are supported by new marketing campaigns", would it weaken the argument and be the correct answer?

Re: Q19

Why is D wrong? I find the corresponding part in the passage: line 24-28 "applying the notion of retained rights...secures recognition ...to retain rights...". Is it different from "suffciently protected"?

Q16

Does anyone know why B? I can't find any content in the passage concerning tot proponents' view on "retaining rights"--they only voice on assumption of tot in paragraph 1 and justification of tot in paragraph 3. And all content about "retaining rights" locates in paragraph 2. Any...

Re: Q9 - The Jacksons regularly receive wrong-number

Hi noah, I am still confused by A. I understand why the other four are flawed but I have issue with "not doing so would be wrong only if one has led...believe...". Because I only find "the jacksons did not lead...to believe" but I can't find any backup of the logic relation "...

But "real freedom" in E is really alike "truly free" in the stimulus. Why aren't they the same thing?

Any thought would be appreciated!

Q15 - Legislator: My staff conducted a poll

I narrow down to B and C then choose B, I think both of them include one of the 2 flaws in the stimulus: the scope shift between high tax and corporate income tax, constituents opposition to high tax and supposed support for reducing corporate income tax. I really don't see why C incorrect. Any thou...

Re: Q12

Hello AllyMaeBell,

I chose D because I thought Passage A proposes explanation for Bee's communication (by sound), which B cannot explained--B just excludes the possibility of by smell but does not solve the mechanism.

Could you pinpoint where I get wrong? Thanks very much!
