Q13

How is the answer E? There is nothing in the paragraph to suggest that biologists no longer believe that all genes are inherited vertically. They say at the end that "such horizontal transmission may well be the mechanism that has eluded biologists" but never says that ANY biologists accep...

Re: Q21 - all too many weakings are also cowards

Concerning the argument itself, Can't you interpret it as two "most" statements? Just because most weaklings are cowards and most cowards are fools doesn't mean that one person is a weakling and a coward. Lets say 6/10 weaklings are cowards and that 51/100 cowards are fools...that doesn't ...

Re: Q17 - Studies of the relibiality of eyewitness...

While I didn't exactly see the overarching logic behind this argument (I still think this question is unfair!), I got the answer correct because of the following: A- left as possible answer choice B- police officers want to get rid of suspect lineups, says nothing of suspects themselves... C- No...t...

Q16 - Ethicist: In a recent judicial

Sorry for all the posts, I just bought ur books and logged in for the 'blue status' thing that people seem to have (using the book code) but my name still isn't blue! hahah anyways, i totally bombed this section and was wondering why B isn't correct. I don't even know what B is saying to be honest, ...

Q4 - A group of 1,000 students

Why couldn't the answer here be A? They fail to justify that 89 percent is an overwhelming majority of students because they selected a group of 1,000 kids in a medium sized city and compared it to the NATIONAL amount of students...they didn't justify this at all.

Q26 - The media now devote more

I don't see why it couldn't be answer choice A or B :(

Re: Q18 - A person is more likely to become disabled

Still a little confused. The proportion receiving disability benefit payments shrinks, and the explanation is that more jobs are offering disability payments? How does that make sense?

Q18 - People who have political power

Really confused by this one. How is the answer B? I picked C, thinking that those who have technical ingenuity and ethical inventiveness would bring both pain and benefits to a given person. But I know that's bad logic and I have no idea how to solve this one!

Re: Q18

Honestly I don't understand the last paragraph at all, no matter how many times I read it. CLS has a problem with the fact that this deductive legal method requires using the law acting as a moral authority. but then the author goes into some game analogy that I don't understand. My take on it is: I...

Q11

Why couldn't the answer be A? If looked through the lens of the majority culture, surely it would be easier to do this and speculate the least since you have a good framework for interpretations, unlike, say, method 2 in paragraph 3. I was decided between A and B and they seem very similar but I tho...

Re: Q18 - Until 1985 all commercial airlines

I got this answer correct. However, what if, for E, there is some other modern development in airplanes that we don't know about that keeps carbon levels down? Or is this controlled by the whole 'similar flights' thing, where similar actually means 'exactly the same'. I'm probably reading too much i...

Re: Q25 - Native speakers perceive sentences

I'm sorry but I still fail to understand the answer :( Maybe I should try explaining my reasoning: A, B, and C I eliminated right off the bat. A- The issue is that the native speakers perception of sounds are an illusion. If anything this strengthens it, because the native speakers perceptions might...

Re: Q20 - Consumer Advocate: The introduction of a new drug

How could E be a possible correct choice, if the word is changed to "if" and not "only if".

Then:

New drugs is released>antihist. is released

Don't you need the assumption from choice A to be in the stimulus for this to work?

Re: Q19 - It takes 365.25 days for

But my question is, even under the old (our current) calendar system, wouldn't they have to do the same thing? If their religious observances show that they are unable to work every Tuesday, then they would have to let them work on different days than everyone else. So I don't see how it changes. I ...

Re: Q19 - It takes 365.25 days for

I'm still confused as to how this whole calendar system works. I was stuck between A and B. For A-This wouldn't be a problem because they would just know that their day doesn't belong to any week. The date itself still stays the same though, so not a problem? For B- How is this an issue? If Jan 1st ...
