PT 36, Sec 4, G4, Q20 and 23

Can someone please explain the thought process for questions 20 and 23? I created at least 4 different scenarios and still couldn't figure out the answers. I had a couple of dual options and could argue that each answer could be true.

Re: PT37, S3, G2, - Red Truck/Green Truck

The latest that Y could arrive is 4th since T, W, and S need to arrive sometime after. Since U can arrive after Z, U could possibly arrive immediately before Y. Therefore, Y and Z can't arrive consecutively. So, E is the correct answer.

Re: PT 38, S2, G2 -- Each of six tasks -- harvesting, milling

I, too am wondering about question # 11. If Gladys is immediately before Frank, then this must be Frank's 2nd demonstration. Then his second demonstration should be threshing, but the correct answer says that Frank's second demonstration is harvesting.

Can anyone explain this?

I understand the explanation for # 16, but how do you know where J goes or is that even necessary?

Re: PT 38, S2, G2 - Six Task Demonstrations

dccoope and mshermn,

Thanks for pointing that out. I was racking my brain trying to get the correct answer to fit. I totally misread that one. Maybe that was the purpose of the LSAT writers??!!!

I miss not working from a book that has explanations, so I appreciate your support!! :)

Re: PT34, S4, G4 - Each of Exactly Six Doctors

Rachel, It took me quite a while to figure out # 19 as well and I got # 22 correct by dumb luck ( I have diagrammed my rules wrong). Anyway, after redoing my diagram and spending close to an hour on the questions, I figured them out. # 19: Looking at the rules, if O is in S, then N must be in S. Tha...

Reading the rules...does it say that if an oil is above or below another oil, then a watercolor has to be beside it? The wording of the rule using "or" is confusing me a bit.

Could an oil be above/below and beside another oil?

Re: PT 38, S4 #24 Land-dwelling verts.

I'm still a little confused with the explanation. With respect to answer E: "Certain anatomical characteristics common to some aquatic animals represent an advantage for survival on land", what is the characteristic common to aquatic animals that would be an advantage for land survival. I ...

Re: PT 38, S4 #24 Land-dwelling verts.

Man o man! That illustrates perfectly how reading carefully AND understanding how some words are used is critical for getting the right answer. After reading over your explanation, I read over the stimulus and your definition of "some" and the answer made perfect sense. Thanks for the help...

Q21 - Political theorist: Newly enacted laws

I narrowed my answer choices to B and E. I chose E because B stated that the law should be retained "primarily on the long-term consequences". I was a bit wary of the word primarily. I thought E was a better choice since the long-term consequences should be better than the short-term conse...

Re: Diagram

My diagram looked a little different, but I inferred the same information prior to beginning the questions. However, I was stuck on # 9. How can Z have at least one option in common with all of the others? Rule #3 stated that W and Y have no options in common. I got the answer right, but just by dum...

Q25 - A 1991 calculation was made to

Why does C weaken the argument? Is it because in the answer there is nothing to suggest that medical or nursing home care would be a burden to society? I was able to narrow down the answer choices to A and C. I picked A, but my reasoning above leads me to believe that's what I should have been think...

Q17 - A safety report indicates that

Can someone explain why answer E doesn't resolve the discrepancy? I'm thinking that some elements that doesn't address seat belts would not resolve the discrepancy, but there were a few other choices that discussed something other than the belts.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Re: Q15 - Kendrick: Governments that try

Looking at the answer for the past 10 minutes, I guess with answer D, it supports the justification of governments who want to prevent cigarette advertisements, but also supports the legality of those same advertisements. Am I on the right path? Or did I just come up with a lame justification only b...
