Re: Q11 - High school students who feel

I know nothing has happened on this thread for a while, but I've been studying for the LSAT and really appreciate the in-depth analysis this forum provides, so I'd like to contribute. I have to say I also hate this question. However, I find that looking though various user posts on this forum, there...

Re: Q18 - People who have political power

I see this question a bit differently. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's the only way I seem to be able to reconcile what's going on. Premise #1 - People who have political power => think new tech is good for their power Premise #2 - People who have political power => think/see ethical arguments as ...

Re: Q19 - How do the airlines expect

I know this thread is like 3 years old but I'm drilling Necessary Assumption questions because they give me such a hard time. I don't think I agree with all this discussion on variations in wording. In my humble opinion, it completely misses the mark. It's interesting to me, because this is one inst...

Re: Q3 - In Europe, schoolchildren devote

Drilling Necessary Assumption I'm starting to see more logical tools, (in this case an indicator), within the questions that provide an easy tip-off. I got the right answer but if I had noticed the conditional nature of the conclusion ( _ if _ ) I probably would have solved this faster. Here's why D...

Re: Q6 - One thousand people of

I really don't get this. There is absolutely no indication in the stimulus that the 38% is separate from the 31%. How am I just supposed to assume that and then add them up. So annoying :(

Re: Q11 - A rise in the percentage

I don't understand how C is the stronger weakener compared to B. They don't specify that the increase in the percentage of graduates came at the cost of reducing the percentage of drop outs. Maybe they increased their percentage of graduate recruits from .0001% to 2% and drop outs still make up 98%...

Re: Q12 - It has long been thought

Quick question here about the negation test. Is it absolutely necessary? I started off using it, but I stopped and I honestly don't find it very useful. I've noticed a tendency for people to get lost in wrong answers simply because they rely too heavily on the negation test. It's like the blinders g...

Re: Q15 - Some plants have extremely

I vaguely understand why D is correct but I don't see how A is wrong. It seems to offer an alternate explanation as to why neither of plants exhibit their temperature activated characteristics - if those things only happen a few weeks out of the year, his thermometer could have a reading of 40 C an...

Re: Q22 - Shortly after the Persian Gulf

So, I know instructors can't answer because I haven't purchased anything, but if anyone else would like to chyme in, be my guest. I have a concern with answer choice D that caused me to get this question wrong. Couldn't peacetime refer to before OR after the war? The question doesn't use the past te...

Re: Q23 - The higher the altitude

I like all this discussion of answer choice A. Here's where I think the discrepancy lies: I'm going to have trouble explaining this in the correct language, but bear with me. In the example, height and altitude are very tightly constrained. The higher you travel the thinner the air. Period. So you k...

Re: Q9

The second passage in line 54 states that it may be harmful to some organisms, particularly scallops, which are marine life. I really hate when forum members aren't entirely accurate in what they say . I understand that this is the most acceptable answer, but let's not fudge the truth. The passage ...

Re: Q15 - There are two supposedly conflicting

I think it's important to realize why this problem has been screwing several of us over (myself included) The problem with this question is it's very easy to not fully realize the conditional relationship described by the first two sentences The 2nd Sentence States: "One is that such leaders Su...

Re: Q15 - Zach's Coffeehouse schedules free

I just want to clarify something that I think has been tripping most people on this thread up. I'm not sure if it's been entirely clearly explained. (D) States, "Zack offers half-priced coffee all day on most if not all Wednesdays." "Most if not all," does not mean, "Most BU...

Re: Q20 - In the past, when there was

I think the explanation given for why C is wrong somewhat misses the point. Yes, "just because people don't abide by the speed limit doesn't mean that they aren't slowing people down." This might be true, but it's not the easiest way to look at this problem. All "most" has to mea...
