Q2 - Elaine: The purpose of art

I'm just a little frustrated with this one. There's really no evidence that there is any disagreement about genres or time periods, but clearly they do not agree about the relative value of being a "recognized" master. I understand that answer "A" is not about museum purchasing p...

Re: pt 53 S1 Q16 a nation's law must be viewed

Re: why "B" is incorrect The jurist is saying that laws are "expressions of" a moral code. You could just as easily say they're derived from this code. "B" suggests that there are criteria other than those incumbent in the moral code from which laws are derived. This wo...

Re: PT 53 S1 Q2 Elaine: The purpose of art museums

That's definitely helpful - thanks! I was fooled by Frederick placing an emphasis on acquiring the work of "recognized" masters while Elaine goes to the trouble of using the awkward phrasing "works not recognized by experts as masterpieces." However, this still doesn't come right...

Re: PT35, S1, Q17 - On the basis of the available evidence

I also had trouble with this question. I narrowed it down to D or E, went with D and hoped to come back if there was time. My problem with E was that it said the inconsistency "as presented" has more than one possible resolution. However, the argument presents the inconsistency has having ...

PT34 S4 G4 Q23 - Doctors at Clinics

Question 23 asks which pair of doctors cannot both work at Randsborough. The correct answer is E, Nance and Palermo. However, Rule 3 states that if Longtree is at Souderton, Nance and Palermo are both at Randsborough. The aggregation of the Rules 4 and 5, however, combine to mean that Nance and Pale...

Re: PT35, S2, Q20 - The passage suggests that the preference

Yes, it definitely helps. It does make sense to me now that I should have eliminated A based on the word "harder". I read the word to mean not so much that it would be more arduous to discover laws governing biology, but rather that one has to stretch logic in order to fit a rule to biolog...

Re: PT34 S4 G4 Q23 - Doctors at Clinics

Very much appreciated. Thanks for the reminder on running scenarios -- sometimes it's hard to see that when you're crunched for time, but this game has so many rules for only 6 slots that in hindsight it's obvious a scenario or two would yield results. I think I'll stick w/ calling this trickery mal...

Re: Q20 - The desire for praise is

Thanks for the help. I was primarily thrown by the word "primarily" in the stimulus. :) I was oscillating between A and E. E had the problem mentioned above - consequences were never explicitly mentioned - and ignoring that, the part referring to motives was not a needed assumption b/c it ...

Q14

I had a very difficult time choosing between A and D. On the one hand, A seems a little strong since the passage is not presenting a specific or complete study of Hopi names. On the other, D seems to over-emphasize the significance the author places on the "two influential views" being dis...

Re: Q1 - Big-budget movies often

The first thing to note is that the question is about revenue, not profit. Revenue is the amount of money coming in, so costs really don't enter into calculating revenue. Answer choice A basically says big budget movies need to sell more tickets to cover costs, so already it can't be right. Also, in...

Q25 - Inflation rates will not stabilize

This question asks us to identify the paragraph that utilizes reasoning that most closely parallels the reasoning in the stimulus. I chose A without much confidence. While the stimulus said it would be "overly optimistic" to expect global cooperation to solve the inflation crisis, answer A...

Re: Q23 - . Without the intervention of..

I answered B, in part b/c it was question #23 and I was short on time so selected B before reading the other answers. Looking back at it with more time I'm not sure it would have helped anyway. :) I wanted to simplify this back down for myself and others, so here's what I came up with (which is very...

Re: Q24 - Over 40,000 lead seals

This question made my brain hurt. To answer dorba's question, this stimulus combined with D does give you the impression that more than 40,000 seals would have been produced, but A does so more convincingly. This is a question where you want what MOST strengthens the argument. A - Most sealed docume...
