Oh...now I see. I read Thelma's argument wrong... stupid mistake.

Thanks so much for your patient explanation!

Q17 - Samples from the floor

Let's see if I understand answer A's argument correctly: Since there is no likely mechanism of contamination that permits contaminating only the deeper samples, if the samples are contaminated at all, they would all be contaminated by "old carbon", and the uppermost sample should be dated ...

Q20 - Policy Adviser: Freedom of speech

Answer C states "a coupling of moral ideals with self-interest". What part in the argument refers to self-interest?

Q10 - Samuel: Because communication via

I chose C instead of E. Now reviewing it, I can see how E is the correct. But I am still not so sure why C is wrong. Is it because "anonymous communication" is not exactly "communication via computer"?

Q15 - Which one of the following practices

I don't see a perfect match in any of the choices. The criticized practice in the argument is to let board of directors decide salaries for corporate executives in order to prevent excessively large salaries. However, since some of the board members are corporate executives themselves, they might be...

Q19 - A tree’s age can be determined

I don't understand how C can help explain the relative age of the tombs. When the trees were planted and cut are unknown, right? Help needed! Many thanks.

Q23 - Throughout European history famines

The answer is D. Is it because the increased birth rate, even though might enhance the population to the prefamine level in the long run, would not compensate for the loss of population right after the famine? Also, why isn't A correct? When the labor force is already diminished in half, the reduced...

Q21 - The proper way to plan

I chose C instead of E, though I felt C didn't exactly meet the point here (the argument does not seem to be about foreseeability of the result of the project). But I don't understand why E is the flaw of the argument. Help needed!

I can't figure out why E explains the paradox. And why doesn't D?
Could anyone help me out here?

PT47 S3 Q25 A corporation created a new division

I chose C instead of D because the fact that D includes "two teams" made me eliminate the choice. I don't understand how D is a better answer than C. Could someone explain it to me?

Many thanks!

PT47 S3 Q8 There is ample evidence that the model of car

I don't see how A weakens the argument. Even if the model of car that was stolen most often last year was indeed the most common model of car in the country, how does it weaken the conclusion that the model of the car still affects the chances that it gets stolen?

Many thanks in advance.

I don't understand why E is the right answer. In Thelma's argument, the number of middle-aged people is not even mentioned. Could somebody explain to me? Many thanks.

I didn't see any choice as the right answer for this one... Could someone explain to me why B strengthens the argument?

Thanks so much!

PT46, S2, Q12 - Researcher: We studied two groups

I limited the right answers down to D and E but couldn't decide which one was better... And as always, I went for the wrong answer... Why is D wrong? Is it the "no one" part?

PT45 S2 Q21 P4 main purpose of line 11-14

I am having a hard time deciding why B is definitely superior an answer to C. I chose C originally because I didn't feel so sure about the wording "systemic problem" in answer B.

Now reviewing the question, I can see why B is correct. But why is C wrong?

Thanks a lot.

PT59 S3 Q23 To predict that a device will be invented

I can see why B is correct, but I am having a hard time telling why E is definitely wrong. Isn't the author trying to establish a conflict between "predict" and what "has already taken place" here(the reason why B is correct)? If so, how can E be wrong? Can someone help me figure...

Q24 - We ought to pay attention

Help! I am totally at lost in this question. By elimination I managed to limit the right answers down to A or C. But I still can't figure out the structure of argument...

Thanks in advance!
