Re: Q2

But mostly, I just lean on the topic sentence of the paragraph (they tend to only ask this "purpose of a paragraph" question when the paragraph provides a nice transitional sentence that serves as support for the answer). Thanks this is helpful for not only this question type, but also on...

Q1

I rode the Struggle Bus on this one. I did get it right though (as if it if matters). Please specifically assess my reasoning for why B is wrong and D is correct. This is a Main Idea/Main Point Question: A - Only covers ¶1 and the view of the legal scholars B - Again, as in (A), it only covers ¶1 ...

Re: Passage Discussion

Also note, "should" is used a total of 6 times in the last 2 ¶s which indicates strong author opinion.

Re: Q16

I wanted to follow up because I'm still struggling with this question. I chose the correct answer (E) because I recognized that the holding had to both set forth and explain the reasoning for a decision, but I was tempted by (C). My thought process was, since a judicial decision consists of two par...

Q22

To be blunt, this question makes as much sense to me as smelling the number nine while tap dancing on one foot.

Thanks in advance.

Q22

I easily narrowed it down to A and C. I felt C was a better answer, so I chose it, but can you please give me a good reason for eliminating A?

Thanks!

Re: Q27

So why not (D)? The only possible evidence for (D) is the final sentence, and we would have to believe that the entire passage is building up to that final sentence. In some ways, this is like a logical reasoning question: where the author's conclusion? Does the author discuss all that crazy stuff ...

Re: Q3

Lines 40-45: "innocent ppl are already occasionally convicted - perhaps in some cases because jurors presume that anyone who has been been brought to trial is probably guilty..." isn't this showing that the jury can behave irresponsibly and direct support for D? Correct. However, the ¶ s...

Q17

I just want to point out, and hopefully get some commentary on, something that I found interesting: The word "government" doesn't appear in the passage even thought it's in the CR. ¶2 only tip toes around the idea of "government". I clearly see how the test authors derive "...

Re: Q3

(If you don't already know the answer to that question, then you should be really taking this to heart in terms of how you read LSAT RC passages ... the #1 thing we're reading for is those moments/lines when the author reveals any opinion ... sometimes it can be over the course of a couple paragrap...

Re: Q6 - The largest volcano on Mars

I am trying to figure out why E is wrong. Is it because there are two conditions: 1) low gravity 2)the thickness of crust E only mention if condiction 2) is matched, because 1) is not satisfied, we can not reach that conclusion? would E be right, if it is like this: at least some of the Earth's vol...

Q27

I felt like the passage was more or less explaining how high and low serotonin levels affect carb cravings. The reason I didn't like E is because I didn't see a "phenomenon" described. Instinct tells me it's because of lines 1-5, but if you could elaborate and further prove it over choice ...

Re: Q23

For B: The accomplishments ? Lines 7-11: The document Vernon uncovered that details the instructions to the captain in 1718. I think it's a bit of a stretch to call Lines 21-22 (where Vernon "proposes two intriguing answers") "accomplishments". Coupled with lines 7-11, however, I...

Re: Q6

The use of "many" on LSAT is frustratingly vague. For the most part, in Logical Reasoning, it behooves us to think of "many" the same way we do "some" (i.e., at least one). The reason for this is that we CANNOT equate "many" with "most", and lots of...

Q2

I got it correct, I just would like someone to please check my reasoning for elimination of the incorrect answers. In real time, I narrowed this question down to B, C, and D. Role of ¶3: A) It doesn't "Pose a question" B) I think the word "rebut" is appropriate. However "th...

Re: New Manhattan Study Guides - 2014

Hey Rich, Glad to hear that you're underway on your LSAT prep when you're aiming for the June/October 2014 LSAT. The 4th edition of our Strategy Guides will predominately feature changes to the RC guide--which will be substantial. I'd recommend that you hold off on buying the RC guide until the Mar...

Q9 - Governments have only one response

Geeks dissect please. Narrowed it down to B and E. I chose E, but understand why B is correct.

Would E be correct had it said "If the cost of providing child care does not increase then child-care services are not regulated"

I'm pretty sure this (E) AC confuses Necc and Suff.

Thanks!

Re: Q2 - The solidity of bridge piers

We have two standards of refusal: Prior to 1700 Standard (PS) -"Refusal" (notice it's in quotes in the stimulus) is met when "the point at which they (pilings) refused to go any deeper." -It's absolute. Basically, as deep as you can get it Contemporary Standard (CS) -Refusal has ...
