Reading material similar to the material you're struggling with will definitely help, but the real issue (I bet) is that you're not interested in topics relating to literary criticism. One of the biggest factors in one's retention of the information presented during the passage is how much you care about that information. The more interested you are, the more you'll retain.
To get practice on such topics, turn to the "Intro's" of most literary works such as the Illiad or Odyssey, Shakespeare, etc... The discussion you'll find there is very similar to the way passages in RC are presented.
But don't forgot to that you're in control of your interests. Turn up your passion for literary works and the discussions surrounding them - at least while you're preparing for the LSAT!
Good luck!
