This is a local inference EXCEPT question. If you keep it straight that the correct answer is what they didn't ask during the experiment in the second paragraph, you should should be fine.
(D) is the right answer. The study was designed to give bilingual speakers 2/3 factors. Then, the speakers would guess or predict the 3rd factor and tell the researchers what language they would use. But (D) asks what topic the speakers would discuss if they were using the provided language. The study worked in reverse: participants told the researchers what language they would use.
The wrong answers:
(A) is the question the researchers asked to get the participants to provide the third factor. They told them parent/child and "good son or daughter," and the participants told them the setting: home.
(B) is the other part of the study. Once the participants had all three factors, they would tell the researchers what language they'd be using.
(C) is the second example (lines 40-43). Careful with this. Just because the participants didn't agree about the answer doesn't mean the researchers didn't ask the question.
(E) is another part of the final example. Participants didn't agree on the topic which means they were obviously asked the question.
