Q8 - Adobe is an ideal material

by hwsitgoing Fri May 27, 2011 12:39 pm

I chose C instead of E because the whole stimulus seemed to be talking about heat conduction and E looked like a simple restatement of the first sentence, which I know can be a common trick on main point questions.

Was C incorrect because it simply states that an adobe maintains a pleasant temperature without specifying it maintains a pleasant temperature in a desert environment?

On Identify the Conclusion questions, make sure that you "identify" the conclusion. Don't just try and summarize the all the contents of the argument - because if you do, you'll end up finding an answer choice that represents evidence. That's exactly the issue with answer choice (C).

The first sentence represents the conclusion of the argument. Searching for the most straightforward paraphrase of the conclusion leads us to answer choice (E).

Incorrect Answers
(A) could be inferred, but doesn't represent an actual claim in the argument.
(B) is a premise.
(C) is a premise.
(D) could be inferred, but doesn't represent an actual claim in the argument.

Does that answer your question?
