We want resolve the paradox/discrepancy.
What is the paradox?
It is that in many crops, hybrid strains were tested and found to produce significantly higher yields than traditional non-hybrid strains, yet when farmers actually replaced the non-hybrids with the great hybrids, the yields did not increase.
I believe it may be more efficient to go through the answer choices on resolve the paradox questions. I would definitely know what the paradox is, and then go through each answer choice to see if that choice resolves or best explains it.
Answer choices:
A) Does not help at all. We want to talk about farmers who have ABANDONED the non-hybrid crops.
B) Does not explain why in the experiments the hybrids out-performed the non-hybrids, yet when they replace the non-hybrids...there was no out-performing.
C) This helps! This would explain why the hybrids did better in the experiment. Its basically saying that these hybrids did not have a change to prove its stuff like it did in the lab.
D) Taste and sell better than the hybrids does not help resolve why hybrids did not out-perform non-hybrids like it did in the experiment.
E) Governments subsidizing ONLY hybrid farmers does not explain why there is a difference in production of the hybrid crops.
