Q6

by Aquamarine Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:34 am

I chose D, but the answer is C.
Doesn't the passage talk about theoretician's perspective about the satellites of asteroids?
I don't know why D is wrong.
Can anyone explain me why D is wrong and C is right?

Please help me.:(
Thanks!

I eliminated D because the primary purpose was not about the theoretical perspective. It was more about the possible confirmation of the theoretical perspective. Remember, most of this passage was about empiricism.

Furthermore, the fact it says a theoretician's perspective is very strong. It was always used plural, and no body in particular was mentioned as a theoretician.

C is right because it covers the discussion happening throughout the passage, not just the theoretical one mentioned solely in the first paragraph. I hope that helps.

Excellent explanation, JAREDTX1993. Thank you. Couldn't have said it better myself.

As for the other answer choices:

(A) isn't supported"”it's not what the passage is doing.
(B) is slightly off. It's just just describing experimental efforts.
(E) is off"”the author isn't trying to illustrate the LIMITS of anything but to review what's out there.
