Correct Answer (D)

We start out with the two possibilities:

F_ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ F

We then look for the farthest distance between G and H

FG/H _ _ _ G/H
G/H _ _ _ G/H F

Fill in the other factories:

FG/HJQRG/H
G/HJQRG/HF

therefore, list of factories for day 1 = F,G,H

How come J is not a possibility in inspection day 1?

J is not a possibility in day 1 because you are wanting G & H to be the FARTHEST apart.

If J is day one, then F is 6. QR have to be together. The only reasonable place to put them, if J is first, is 3rd & 4th. That means G is 2nd & H is 5th which leaves only 2 spots in between them instead of the 3 spots in between them that chike_eze has shown.
