Hey Val,

You do realize that's not the answer to the question right? So I assume you're just asking what that would mean in general?

Grudging respect would be when you might not actually like something, but you respect it anyway. So it would be grudging (Definition: granted or allowed only reluctantly or resentfully), but also respectful. Maybe if another jazz musician were discussing Miles Davis and talking about how he wasn't a very nice guy, but very talented. That might be another kind of grudging respect.
