I picked A
why is B correct and others incorrect?
I don't really see the difference in meanings of "community" in line 15 and "communities" in line 2.
maryadkins Wrote:In line 2, the author is describing the geographical layout of the "communities"--they're expansive and low-density. He goes on through the paragraph to describe the problems with these communities and how they actually FAIL to provide "community", a different use of the word meaning people knowing each other.
We're looking for an answer choice that gives us these two separate meanings.
(A) says the opposite.
(B) is correct.
(C) is wrong for its first part, in particular. In line 2, there's no indication that "community" is used to refer to shared interests among people.
(D) describes line 2's meaning in the second part--that is, it claims line 15 is using line 2's meaning. The two meanings are different.
(E) is incorrect for both parts.
I hope this helps!
