Q4

by RoxanaA644 Tue Aug 15, 2017 7:20 pm

I do not understand why A (F was begun in a later year than M) is the answer here. I haven't been able to take an effective approach towards solving this problem or even really eliminating many of the answer choices. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

My personal approach is that for these types of MBT if it appears as like one of the first questions (of a game) I will consider doing it right away because it tends to be something really "obvious" (but if nothing stands out I skip it) ; however, in this case it is in the middle of the game and I would skip it first. Then after doing all the conditional questions I then use previous work to make eliminations since conditional questions provide additional game boards.

When i did it previously:
Using Previous Work
Choice B is out from Q3
Choice C from Q6 (H,F is a cloud over slots 4 and 5)
Choice E is out from Q2

After Previous work,
It is A and D left.

Intuitively it is A because you know that M has to occupy one of the first three slots. Yet at the same time, you also know that the earliest F can go is on Slot 3 thanks to the G-L-F rule. Hence this means that the earliest F can go is on slot 3 but if F goes on slot 3 then M must go on Slot 1 or 2 since M can not go in Slots 4 or 5. If we move F into slots 4 or 5 M has to still go before F since M is restricted to slots 1 through 3.

To break D ,
M/G -L-F-H-S where M/G are in 1.
