Q3 - A just government never restricts

by WaltGrace1983 Sun Feb 01, 2015 3:12 pm

We are given a conditional to start this out so we should satisfy the whole conditional to find our correct answer.

Just Government & Restricts --> Restricted desires are a direct threat to other citizens

So basically, the right answer will have something to do with a government still being just despite restriction on X because leaving X unrestricted would threaten other citizens.

Otherwise, the right answer could also say that the government is NOT just as the restrictions were NOT a direct threat to other citizens.

(A) looks good as it includes everything the conditional did. This government is just despite its restriction on public highway racing. Presumably, highway racing would threaten other citizens. However, I am not in love with this answer so I will continue (A is still a tad bit vague for question 3).

(B) But does compulsory labor threaten other citizens? If it doesn't threaten, (B) could be correct. However, if it does threaten, (B) couldn't be correct. With this vagueness, we should eliminate.

(C) But does this threaten other citizens (see explanation for B)? Eliminate.

(D) But does this threaten other citizens (see explanation for B)? Eliminate.

(E) This, to me, was the really tough answer. However, (E) fails to answer the question about threat: does this citizen pose at threat to other citizens? Without this answer, we have to eliminate (E).

(A) is correct. While none of the answers offer an explicit answer to the question of threat, (A) is the most common-sensical as it is talking about "unrestricted racing on public highways." I bet everyone would say this poses some kind of threat.

Either way, tough question for being #3!
