Q25 - The indigenous people of Tasmania

by ottoman Sat Jul 13, 2013 8:08 am

This is a Resolve Paradox question Except question. Four answers will resolve the paradox. One will not.

The Paradox is though indigenous people of Tasmania are culturally related to the indigenous people of Australia 10,000 years ago, after the disappearance of a bridge, their habits are different from those of Australians. What happened after the disappearance of a bridge?

A. T just abandoned some of the practices they had shared with Australians. Explains the Paradox.

B. ????

C. Technological innovations were introduced into Australia by the third parties after the disappearance of the bridge. No wonder their habits are different from those of T people. Explains the Paradox.

D. Australians developed some different habits after the disappearance of the bridge. Explains the Paradox.

E ???

Can some one explain the Answer Choice B and E?

Thank you!

Nice work on identifying the paradox ottoman! Your work on answer choices (A), (C), and (D) is right on.

Lets look at answer choices (B) and (E).

(B) fails to explain the difference since the developments were made more than 10,000 years ago. They should have been able to transfer to Australia and so cannot explain the discrepancy.

(E) is similar to answer choice (B) with one critical distinction. Since the developments were made in northern Australia by people who did not have contact with the indigenous Tasmanians. This can explain the differences between the indigenous people of Australia and those of Tasmania--they never had contact and so the developments could not transfer.

Answer choice (B) is correct as it cannot help to explain the difference.
