I see why (B) is appealing -- if indeed it is true that "[t]he lower the level of subduction in an area, the greater the probability that any subduction there is occurring at a shallow angle," then what we've learned about shallow-angle subduction from the passage would provide us with a "warning" similar to the one discussed in the final paragraph.
But also it would be very odd to end the passage by introducing a completely new fact, which is what (B) is doing. Nowhere in the passage is there mention of a
directly proportional relationship between the level and the angle of subduction. If we really did stick that sentence at the end of the passage, that fact would seemingly come out of nowhere.
So in other words, while it may be the case that (B), if true, would give cause for alarm regarding low-level subduction regions, it is nonetheless a completely new fact which would be inappropriate to introduce only in the final sentence of the passage.
