I definitively agree with the good points made about C and E above. Here is my two cents: there may be an additional reason to choose E (E does not resolve the paradox). E compares the fact that more kinds of lamps were produced by the M culture than "earlier cultures" without specifying whether these earlier cultures are all within the Upper Paleolithic period. It would be irrelevant to the comparison if it went outside the period at issue. Thanks.
