Q21

by boy5237 Sun Nov 04, 2012 3:36 pm

This game is so misleading and ambiguous.

The constraint doesn't even tell whether each plane actually has to participate in the show; who knows? maybe only one pilot flies and the other 2 just sits out.

Like this question, If Bob and Anna flies, we know that they are either in plane 1 or 4.
Ok, from this info, you absolutely can't deduce anything. Does Cindy even fly? As far as we concerned, No. She can just sit out.

The 3rd rule says If there is a show, then there must be a pilot. In other words, A plane can participate in a show with only pilots and without copilots. Also, the rule also explicitly saying that copilots aren't sufficient or competent enough I guess to fly the planes only themselves.

So, with given info, we can't deduce anything; after all, who knows whether Cindy will fly a plane? what about copilots? They all could sit out.

However this question is asking for what must be true and the answer is C.

This totally makes sense but ONLY IF the answer choice themselves are reworded: If Dave flies, then Cindy has to fly with Dave. We don't even know whether Dave flies or not.

I struggled with this question for over 30 min...

Am I missing something or is this question misleading?

I had never done the game before until I saw that you had a question about it.

I knew going into the questions that there was a tension in the game regarding whether or not pilots could fly multiple planes during the air show. For instance, is it really absurd for someone to fly multiple airplanes during the entirety of an air show? For me, it is not.

However, to answer the questions, you must operate under the assumption that these pilots and co-pilots are used once and only once.

In regard to your question about knowing whether Dave flies or not. We do know that Dave and everyone else listed will be used. Notice the phrasing, "DEF are all aboard planes flying..."

So with question 22, what must be true if we know that C and F are the only ones on one plane? We know that D must be accompanied by a pilot, and with C being unable to be used since it is with F, we must have it go with B. A can only go in 1 or 4. With D being in 2 or 3, A would never be able to pilot the plane D is occupying.
