Q20

by mitrakhanom1 Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:33 pm

I narrowed it down to C, D, and E. But got confused since x can be in the same spoonful as U. Meaning U and X could be in 2 and U and X could also be in 3. but the explanation i saw only explains U in 2 and X in 3 or U and X in 3. So what about U and X being in 2? I'm still confused on answer choices C, D and E.

You're close! But think about what happens if X goes in in the 2nd bite with U and Y: there are no letters left for the 3rd bite, and we have to have at least 1 letter in each bite:

1: W T Z

2: U Y X

3: ???

So either U and Y are in 2, and X is in 3, or U, Y and X are all in 3.

Hope this helps.

If Z is in the first spoonful, we know we're in frame 1, but we don't know whether the UY chunk goes in either the 2nd or 3rd spoonful. Running it both ways we see that X must be in 3rd spoonful either way.
