What is wrong with answer choice (D)? The whole passage seems to be dealing with strawberry fields in specific with cyclamen mites, so I didn't pick (C) because I thought it was too general.

I see 2 problems with D. 1) the the term essential. While they are an effective mean to control the mites, they may not be the necessary one. 2) It only mentions the example, it doesn't mention what does this whole example trying to show, which C clearly ties the example with the bigger picture.
