I elimniated B, C and D. I was confused by the answer choice E. Could you explain what does answer choice E mean?

Hey Ottoman,

(E) is saying that the argument explains why X happened by referring to what the goal of X happens to be.

In this case, we never find out what the specific goals ("intended outcome") of the scientific research were, so this can't be what the argument is doing.

I haven't checked the answer and reviewing in real time. I will follow the process elimination to find the correct answer.

A) I think the situation is that certain scientific fields are in flux because of scientific progress is a general pattern. I think this is the correct answer

B) I eliminated because of the word "unacceptable consequences". The author accepts the consequences. Wrong.

C) Wrong. Only shows one explanation as probable.

D)This was hard to eliminate but "Law of Nature" seemed too out of scope.

E) Wrong. There was no "course of action". I think it is out of scope. We don't know if the "flux" was intended.

I chose A... and I was right!
