17. (B)
Question Type: Unconditional (Orientation)
The most effective method for solving orientation questions is to take each rule, one at a time, and eliminate answer choices. Once we find an answer choice that a rule eliminates, we can simply move on to the next rule. It is very uncommon for a rule to eliminate more than one answer choice.
Let’s start with the first rule: GG starts on the hour rather than the half hour. As we discussed before, this means that GG must start at 1:00PM, 2:00PM, or 3:00PM. Therefore, GG must be first, third, or fifth. Answer choice (C) violates this rule since GG is fourth and therefore starts at 2:30PM. Eliminate it!
The second rule: T starts on the half hour rather than the hour. It is a bit more difficult to determine what time each program starts based on the order because the start-time depends on the placement of GG. Notice that T is fourth in both answer choices (A) and (B), but due to the different placement of GG T is at 3:00PM in answer choice (A) and at 2:30PM in answer choice (B). Since T has to start on the half hour, we can eliminate answer choice (A).
The third rule: R is shown earlier than S. S is shown earlier in answer choice (E). Eliminate it!
The fourth and final rule: If W is shown earlier than T, then it is shown immediately before T. W is before T in both of our remaining answer choices, (B) and (D). However, (D) violates the condition since W is not shown immediately before T. Eliminate it!
(B) does not violate any of our rules, and therefore is our correct answer.
