The first sentence is the main conclusion in this argument.

Being vague in what one says can bring about all of these different interpretations of what was meant. "We are the measure of all things" is posed as an example of this, as we are given differing interpretations. All of the statements in this argument support the first.

A) It is the conclusion.
B) If anything, it is the reverse. The statement of measure of all things illustrates the interpretation conclusion.
C) It is the conclusion.
E) Bad terminology used in this answer choice.

Right, so the last part of the argument is one of the interpretations of the saying "We are the measure of all things." These 2 interpretations support the first sentence: the conclusion.

Let us know if that's still not clear!

Thanks.

hello,

I'm still confused as to why answer choice B would be incorrect. Can someone please explain??

"An illustration" of a claim is kinda like "an example" of that claim.

CLAIM:
Doing nice things for your wife will make her happy

ILLUSTRATION:
When I bought my wife flowers (did something nice), she hugged me with glee (happy).

---------------

CLAIM:
Ambiguity inspires interpretation

ILLUSTRATION:
"We are the measure of all things" is an ambiguous saying that has been interpreted at least two different ways.

So (B) has the relationship reversed. (B) could be correct if it read:
"It is a claim that is illustrated by the saying 'we are the measure of all things'."
