Thanks for bringing this question to the forum!
This is one of those Analogy / New Last Sentence / Go Beyond the Passage type questions that many of us hate.
Naturally, we still need to find the applicable 'proof text' in the passage and then look for the closest answer choice fit.
What do the folklorists in the last paragraph want to study?
- folklore in context / what does it mean to the people who use it? (51-52)
(might be diff for men than for women)
- "the role folklore plays in a particular culture" (58-59)
(A) exclusively women / different cultures .... no keyword match
(B) co-ed / variety of topics (traditional and nontraditional) ... no keyword match
(C) "purpose and meaning of a tale in a particular culture" ... KEYWORD MATCH with line 58-59 and 51-52.
"Purpose" = "role"
"in a particular culture" = "in a particular culture"
"meaning" = "what folklore means"
(D) how a piece of folklore changes over time ... no keyword match
(E) comparing folklore performers to writers ... no keyword match
Hope this helps.
