All Inference questions are asking us which answer choices we can prove from the facts provided.
Since this is Inference-EXCEPT, then four answer choices can be proven and one cannot.
So we can either get to our answer by eliminating the four answers we feel are most provable from the info provided or we can pick the one answer that we think goes beyond what we can prove.
(A) This was said in the 4th sentence.
Less atmospheric C --> less atmospheric heat -> less evap --> less rain --> less carbon washed into oceans.
(B) This was said in the 2nd sentence.
More atmosph. C --> more atmospheric heat --> more evap
(C) Sure, if we continued that 2nd sentence we got
More atmosph. C --> more atmospheric heat --> more evap --> more rain
(D) This is part of the same chain we looked at in answer choice (A).
(E) Correct Answer.
This represents causality backwards. It says
Less atmospheric heat --> less atmospheric C
If you look at our work for (A) and (D), this reverses the first two parts of the causal chain.
Let me know if you still have questions about this one.
