The author begins by defining traditional sources as archeological remains and surviving texts --

A recreated loom - so, a loom we create together in the style of back then, is neither an archeological remain or surviving text --

All the other answers can be said to fit into one of those categories --

Hope that helps

I selected correct answer (D) on my timed PT.

On the BR, however, (B) was enticing. Later in the introductory paragraph, the author specifically cites cloth as something that was discarded -- meaning, it wasn't viewed as a traditional source of evidence (see line 8).

I suppose the fact that (B) mentions "historically significant pieces of cloth" excludes such discarded cloth, but it certainly gave me pause.

Just because cloth was discarded doesn't mean it's not a traditional source. It just means it isn't very helpful, having been thrown away or perished.

See line 5: "these sources," for which the archaeological record is "particularly unavailing."

So there aren't many of them available, but that doesn't make them anything but traditional sources that aren't very available/useful.

How can it be a traditional source when the first paragraph literally says it was discarded until recently?

Why is C the incorrect answer here? What is the process for getting to D as the correct answer choice?

Many thanks!
