Since these questions ultimately come down to matching language from the answer choice with language from the stimulus, check out W's paragraph.
Do you see any language that could match up with "emphasizing similarities"?
I see "there is a consensus among reputable investigators" ... so reputable global warming scientists similarly concur that global warming will be from 1.5 to 4.5 degrees.
Along the same lines, what language from W's paragraph matches up with "putting disagreements cited by S in perspective"?
We have "most scientists consider discussions of accepted ideas boring, and prefer to argue about what is not known."
== other answers ==
(A) this trap answer is on almost every single one of these questions. The 2nd dude never DENIES the evidence the 1st dude provides ... he only calls into question assumptions or brings up alternative interpretations/considerations, etc.
(B) no match for "accepting S's conclusion" .. nothing like "I agree, let's not do anything about global warming".
(C) the authorities mentioned by W are presumable the same as those mentioned by S ... both authors are talking about scientists arguing about how much global warming will occur, so there's no conflict there.
(E) "Circular reasoning" is wrong 99% of the time you see it on LSAT, as it is here. There's no way to match up what W said with anything in (E). W fully accepts the evidence S provided, but W presents it in a new light, "yes, they're arguing, but only because it's boring to discuss what's agreed upon. They all agree it will be SOMEWHERE in the 1.5 - 4.5 range."
Hope this helps
