Passage Discussion

by CourtneyH949 Mon Sep 21, 2020 4:37 pm

What would be the scale for this passage?

This is the scale I currently have:
1) Humans can contribute to the evolution of society.
-Charlotte Gilman is on this side
2) Social interactions are determined by biological processes and its futile to try to change them.
-The first of the two group of social darwinists mentioned is on this side

I know that this passage is about Charlotte Gilman and her views and actions. Since this scale isn't around the main topic (CG), I am confused about whether its a decent scale for the passage. However, it was the only scale I could come up with, because the author's descriptions of CG and her opinions and actions seemed very objective, and it seemed like the only duality or argument existed between the two camps of social darwinists.

I think that's a great scale. Well done!

Sometimes when a passage is all about one side of the scale, it feels like you're forcing it into the X vs. Y mold. That's fine. In these cases, I just give a little extra time to fleshing out that side of the scale in my mind.
