New Information in Most Supported Q's

by camerojg Mon Sep 03, 2012 1:09 pm

Hello,

I'm drilling some most supported questions and have a question regarding the answer choices for this question type. I realize that in must be true/inference questions, new information is a red flag and often grounds for a quick elimination. Can the same be said for most supported questions?

I ask because as mentioned in the MLSAT LR guide, most supported and inference answers have different "ranges of provability." With most supported q's, my understanding is that the correct answer may leave open to the possibility of being false, although it will still have better textual support than the four wrong answers.

Since most supported q's have some wiggle room, I figured that might give the test makers freedom to introduce new information into a correct answer. For sake of example, I'm looking at PT40 S3 Q3. Can I eliminate choice A because "becoming a great writer" is new information? Thanks very much in advance.

Yes, there's more wiggle room, but you are still looking for the most provable answer choice so your task isn't different. Still look for the most provable answer.

This means introducing new information will be a red flag just like it always is. But in "most strongly supported" questions, the right answer may not be 100% provable.

Stick with the plan of staying as close to the text as possible and you should be fine.
