Manhattan LSAT Arcade Logic Game question

by cedwinner Sun Jan 05, 2014 8:40 pm

Hi,

Can someone please explain to me the answer to this question (tinypic link to the manhattanlsat arcade question below)? I do not understand what "K touches P" or "L touches N" mean, nor do I understand why the answer is what it is.
I tried to attach a picture of the game on here, instead of the link, but it was too small and blurry to see anything.

Thanks in advance.

If L is 3 before M, that's:

L ___ ___ M

We know that Q-N-P must be before M in that order. So that means Q will have to be before L no matter what:

Q-L ___ ___ M

Of the remaining letters, N-P-K, what can fit in those 2 slots between M? Well, we could either have:

Q L N P M K

Or

Q N L P K M

But wait! L needs to be before N. So that second option is out. We are left only with:

Q L N P M K

Hope this helps!
