inference questions in LR vs. RC

by LSAT-Chang Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:41 pm

I seem to have a lot of trouble with inference questions in reading comp. I think the main reason is because I'm so used to logical reasoning inference questions in that we can't "infer" something out of the text -- meaning, we can't be too lenient with specific meanings of words. However, I feel like I'm always so shocked by the correct answers to inference questions on the reading comp, since I seem to disagree with the words used and how the author gives more leniency in meanings of the words and basically, infers a lot more than what I think you "can" infer.

Any tips on how I can improve with inference questions in reading comp?

Inference on RC can be a lot looser.

Once I accepted that, RC became so much easier. I have found that a great way to approach RC questions is that, when applicable, prephrase an answer. After that, being able to eliminate absolute wrong choices.

Post some RC problems you have and we can talk about it.

Perfect example of an inference question that I just posted a few minutes ago:
q2-t4777.html

Still can't seem to spot how we can INFER such ideas!
