Increase endurance??

by tzyc Sat Apr 06, 2013 11:00 pm

When I timed, either 4 sections or 5 sections...it's often hard to keep concentration and become really tired during sections (especially when it has something like LR, RC, LR...and since English is not my 1st language)
And miss easy questions or even cannot grasp what it says
How can I increase/keep endurance without loosing/decreasing concentration?
Are there any way to practice?
Or I will become accustomed to it naturally if I do a lot of 5 section practices?
And...my neck hurts too...
What helped you to refresh during the 10-15minutes break or even between sections to concentrate on next section?

Appreciate any advice!

Yeah, the LSAT is an endurance test as much as anything. The issues you describe are common, even for people whose first language is English--losing concentration over time, having trouble keeping your energy up, and a sore neck.

Doing full-tests will help with endurance. So will doing other things that require you to withstand fatigue and keep going--running, or yoga, or reading a challenging book (in English), whatever that may be for you.

Good luck!

Hi!

My post is similar to yours so I can answer this. To increase endurance, you just wanna keep doing full-timed exams. 5 Sections + writing section. I usually take a 4-section exam + writing section and then add an additional section from an older test just to increase my endurance.

I have the same issue, I max out at mid-170s to high-170s, but because of my fatigue I make stupid mistakes and get in the high-160s range, which is very disappointing. I used to do three tests a week, but I burnt out, and so I switched to doing two full tests a week. However, I have about two months left and have switched it up to three tests a week again. I am recognizing I am able to endure the entire tests more and more as I go through each test.

Best of luck!! Endurance can definitely be overcome.

I additionally exercise 2x a day. Insanity in the morning and weights at night. I am also eating healthy and sleeping well. This will give you the energy you need to get through the test. (I don't think exercising 2x a day is necessary tho). Last but not least, have a bit of caffeine (coffee or tea) before you take the test. Don't drink it every day or else your body will become tolerant. Just take it about an hour before you take the test. I realized coffee makes me go #2 and #1 so I take it before so that won't bother me during the test.
