How can I organize my studies right now?

by monicaiannacone Thu Mar 22, 2012 9:07 am

I recently took PT 50 and I actually scored 2 points lower than my June 2007 LSAT PrepTest (diagnostic). In class and during homework I feel like I'm grasping the concepts but my score shows that I'm missing key concepts!!

On LR Section 4, for six of the the questions I missed, I chose the WRONG answer between the final two choices. And I skipped 5 questions because I ran out of time.

On LG, I got 9/22 correct and missed all 3D numbered ordering (#12-17) questions.

On RC, I ran out of time before getting to the last section.

-How should I organize my studies right now? Planning on taking the June 2012 LSAT only if I start seeing progress in my studies.

Sorry to hear about the dip, but the good news is that it's not unusual to dip a little once you start trying to implement strategies early in the course. Where are you in your course?

Sounds like you have room for improvement in all three sections, so my advice--particularly if you're still only 1/3 or so into the course--is to keep chugging along and doing the homework to master specific strategies, and not to focus on one section over the others.

A useful way to review your test is to focus on the question types you missed that you've already learned (assumption family questions you felt you grasped in the homework, for example), and on the games that are types you have learned, already. Don't sweat the question/game types you haven't learned, yet. You'll get to them in class.

And don't sweat a single score, regardless, particular at this point. You're fine.

Just keep at it!

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I've had 5 sessions of class, my 6th class is tomorrow. I did notice on the games that I haven't learned two types yet so I was confusing/frustrated about those games. But I'll take your advice and review the questions from what I've already learned.
