Game Diagram

by andrewgong01 Sat Nov 18, 2017 6:42 pm

I was wondering if I can get suggestions on this diagram because during the test I could not figure out the diagram so I jumped to Game 4 instead and then when I came back to Game 3 I developed the diagram below, which was also the best diagram I could think of when re-doing the test without review; however, I recall people saying there were much faster ways to diagram this game by not having 12 slots for 4 elements:

Diagram
Q _ _ X _ [F in a cloud]
R_ _ [] _
S:_ _ X _

Big Pause :
No frame? (Not sure about this)
G and I rule will cause a lot of issues to avoid each other since there are only 4 slots so G and I should be priority
G and H can not go with Q and once G and H are placed it impacts where G can go
Distribution : 2-1-1

Any time any game has ordering, that will always be the crux of my "left to right" diagram.

Since this is 4 days, 4 spots.

__ __ __ __

For each day, I have to keep track of who was the witness and who was the investigator, so I'll use two rows (I don't bother drawing a 2nd row, I just write above an below the lines)

Q, R, S __ __ __ __
f, g, h, i

RULES:
Q/f
~(gi)
SAME / g and h

Q, R, S ..... __ __ R __
f, g, h, i

Anything worth framing?
- Q/f has three options. Placing them would limit how I split up my (gi) enemies.
- Who could be the SAME with g and h? Any of Q, R, S? (I didn't make this deduction the first time I played the game, but only R or S can double-up with g and h. We already know that Q is with f, so it Q doubled-up with g and h, there would be 3 Q's).

FRAME 1:
Q, R, S ..... Q __ R __
f, g, h, i ......f

FRAME 2:
Q, R, S ..... __ Q R __
f, g, h, i ............f

FRAME 3:
Q, R, S ..... __ __ R Q
f, g, h, i ....................f

from there, we can place some g/i placeholders

FRAME 1:
Q, R, S ..... Q __ R __ .... (S, S/R)
f, g, h, i ......f ..g/i ....i/g

FRAME 2:
Q, R, S ..... __ Q R __ .... (S, S/R)
f, g, h, i .....g/i ..f

FRAME 3:
Q, R, S ..... __ __ R Q .... (S, S/R)
f, g, h, i .....g/i .....i/g. f

Hope this helps.

Hi Patrick, I think there is a mistake for Frame 3:
When F is placed on the last day, you are left with Days 1 through 3 still open and since GI is an antichunk it should be H that goes into Day 2 and then the G/I placeholder revolve around Day 1 and Day 3 so that G/I can not be next to each other but the other parts helped a lot in getting a better sense of the game and diagramming it more efficiently then my original approach of having far more slots

Yes, thanks!

As you probably know, this stupid typing environment doesn't recognize blank spaces, so it's really hard to make game diagrams look right.

I've been using a hack where I space things out with periods and then make all the periods WHITE so that they don't show up. :)
But it makes it really easy to mess up the spacing.

Hello! What game type is this? Is it a 3D Ordering LG with a "repeating elements" twist?
