Diagram

by inference_seeker Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:29 pm

This game is challenging. I chose B for 19, E for 20 and E for 22, and got all three wrong. I did get the other questions right, but I think I might be missing inferences. My diagram did not tell me a whole lot that would help me solve 19.
I my diagram I have two columns for L and S. Each column has three rows for 8, 9 and 10 pm. I put a J and M on top the S column so I know they fit there. I also put a slashed out H and a slashed out F next to 10 and 8 respectively. What am I missing? Should I run hypothetical to get the right answer to 19?

Demetri's diagram is spot on, although I chose to do mine in a vertical fashion. It's entirely up to you.

I think the easiest way to tackle this game is to frame it. When you first make your diagram, it's really entirely blank. Aside from knowing that F cannot go during 08:00 AM, and H cannot go in 10:00 AM, there doesn't seem to be many other inferences to draw. But if you take a step back, and look at all the rules as a whole, particularly the -FM and -FJ and that JM must be on the studio side, it'll make you understand why framing is a definite possibility.

I broke mine down to 4 frames. There are, however, more possibilities/frames, but I thought 4 was sufficient. I started mine with the JM placements and then placed the F accordingly. From there on, you can fill the frames and then attack the questions.
