Usually I'm slow to think of framing, but frames wound up being relatively easy and useful for this game.
I started with LM-O-S, and noted that leaves only R and V, which can float except between LM.

I made the frames by moving R through allowable positions and noting where V could float or where V had to be inserted between R & S:

RLMOS (V float)
LMROS (V float)
LMORVS
LMOSVR

I wasn't able to figure the frames shown in the LG Study Guide, perhaps since I found it easier to diagram this horizontally than vertically.
