PT47, S4, G4, Maggie's Deli is open exactly

The last constraint threw me off, which made the entire rest of the game difficult!

October 2005 Preptest 47 LSAT Answers

Yeah, it's a bit strange. It means that if K works on a given day, the other person working that shift cannot have already worked that week, it must be that other person's first day of work that week.

So, if K is working on Thursday, it could not work with O, since that would not be O's first day. Along those lines, can K work on Wednesday? Nope, and for the same reason.

I actually think the 4th constraint is the trickiest, since it can lead one to think that S's first day must come after P's first day, but they could occur simultaneously.

I can spell out more about the game, but it's better that you run through the game again on your own first -- I think you'll figure it out now.

Here's my explanation for this game. If you have any questions, post away!

In the mean time, here is my setup when I just did this game.

Please ask if anything does not make sense or if you would like to go over a certain problem.

With an effective understanding of the rules, you can motor through this game in less than 4 minutes.

Notice that I have a slot reserved for a supervisor each day and a slot reserved for a supervisor or a nonsupervisor.

The N group is composed of K, O, S.

We know that O is used on Tues and Wed.

We know that K and S must go at least once. There are only three spaces left. So one space could theoretically go to O, J, N, or P. The other two will have to go to either K or S.

We know that we will have a N block. We need to remember that an N could go on the bottom part of the diagram, while on a previous day, the N was at the top, and this would still have us that block, as N is on consecutive days.

We know the N goes on consecutive days but N is not limited to just those two days.

We know that Kevin's presence indicates that his person on his day is going for the first time. Thus, we can infer that Kevin will not go on Wed as this is O's second time.

Before you even head into the questions, you know what this game will test you on.

The P and S dynamic. The Kevin dynamic.
