PT 9, Sec 3, Game 2

by stackoutawinner Fri Aug 21, 2009 2:20 pm

I've written up a solution to this game. However, I ran into a problem whereby I could not adequately solve question 12.

Everything else I am ready to post to the site. Would someone please give me some advice on how to tackle question 12?

Thanks!

With P out, we know that N is selected (second rule). Due to the third rule, L must also be selected. So far, we have N, L, and one of J and K (first rule) selected. The only variables to look at are M and Q. Due to the fourth rule, if Q is selected, K must be as well. That accounts for one solution. If M is selected, either J or K could be selected. That accounts for two additional solutions, for a total of three.

How do the first two conditions map out on a logic chain?

- Either J or K must be selected, but J and K cannot both be selected.
- Either N or P must be selected, but N and P cannot both be selected.

Here the Logic Chain for this one as well as some frames that you might have mapped out in advance of the questions:

Thank you. I was unsure about the double sided arrows for J,K and N,P.

I did not use the double sided arrow, personally, I think it is easier to put into a frame like this

J/K, N/P, (LMQ)2

Rules:
not P -> N ->L
Q -> K -> not J

This solves most of the questions.

I'd suggest giving this frame a shot.
