Diagram

by jacob.k.q Sat Jun 25, 2016 9:19 am

I would like to compare my diagram with a "perfect" one. I think I made an invalid inference from the three rules: because no movie can come after the ones given, there can be no movies in the 3rd row at all.

Hey, Mark.

On this forum, discussion of the diagram gets its own thread, as does discussion of each question. If you haven't read the explanations for each question, go back to the main page for this game and check each one out (and add questions to individual threads if you have concerns).

In terms of the setup,

GHL ≥ 1 (but no more than once per day)

People will approach the diagram different ways. Many will write the maximum number of blanks (3) for each day:

__ __ __ ..... __ __ __ ..... __ __ __
....thu..................fri.................sat

Other will write the minimum number of blanks per day (at least 1):
__ + ....... __ + ...... __ +
thu...........fri.............sat

I'll use the first method.

Rule 1 looks like
__ __ H ..... __ __ __ ..... __ __ __
....thu................fri...............sat

Rule 2 adds in this
__ __ H ..... __ G/L ..... __ __ __
....thu................fri...............sat

Rule 3 adds in this
__ __ H ..... __ G/L ..... __ G/H
....thu................fri...............sat

For rules 2 and 3, we reduced the possible number from 3 down to 2, since each rule said you wouldn't have BOTH of the characters mentioned.

If we wanted to help out our brain with who's left, we could write what's remaining / what's possible.
(G,L)?..........H?..............L?
__ __ H ..... __ G/L ..... __ G/H
....thu................fri...............sat

Hope this helps.

When reading a structure diagram start at the top sign language alphabet and work towards the bottom. If a level contains more than one branch, read from left to right before moving to the next level.Static diagrams describe the state of a system from a variety of perspectives. A static diagram describes what a piece of the system is. A dynamic diagram describes what a portion of the system is doing. There are seven types of static diagrams: Component. A data flow diagram shows the way information flows through a process or system. It includes data inputs and outputs, data stores, and the various subprocesses the data moves through. DFDs are built using standardized symbols and notation to describe various entities and their relationships.
