crunchtime LG video

by Ellesat Sun Mar 12, 2017 8:41 pm

I was watching the video and confused about two things mentioned, would appreciate if someone could clear up please:

1) on the 7 ski classes problems, at 1:20:18 of the video

Regarding following rule: F's class is exactly two hours before G's class

Why is this represented as F_ _ G? I thought it was F_ G, It is not like the rule said F and G are separated by exactly two hours?

2) Also at 1:09:21 where its said that we have a four tiered diagram, why is that? the rule states that there's at least one but no more than three on each shelf, wouldn't that make it a three tiered diagram as such:

__ __ __
__ __ __
__ __ __ <- with these boxed

You are totally right about the 1:20 mistake. The rule would be symbolized F _ G.

For some reason she read "separated by two hours" as she read the one on the left (probably because she had just read that for the one on the right) instead of "two hours before".

And you're right about the 1:09 mistake. There was a condition in the setup that inherently limits the max quantity of each group to three.

I think she was ignoring that constraint and just saying "with one person in each column, you have three people out of six already accounted for, and you still have three remaining people to place, so the theoretical max for each column is four".

She was getting ready to make a contrast with the next setup, which would have allowed for people to repeat in multiple columns, and thus wouldn't have lent itself to the same "quantity cap" on each column.

Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for alerting us to it!
